Liquid is a newly opened night club in 2008. It is next door to Hooters, right on the ocean front, on the site previously occupied by the Metropolis night club.
The clean and minimalist exterior with understated lighting hints that this place is a little different from the majority of Playa de las Americas clubs and indeed it is.
Liquid is a very stylish club which is apparent as soon as you step up to it and venture inside. No football shirts in here, they'd never make it past the door staff anyway.
When I first walked in, it was the fantastic lighting and effects that caught my eye, certainly amongst the best I've seen. The next thing that struck me was the cleanliness of the premises which were beyond criticism. Something that hits you a little differently is the drink prices. They are amongst the most expensive I have ever experienced in Playa de las Americas but considering the overall standard of Liquid, they were not totally unreasonable.
If you are familiar with the phrase this is a club for the "beautiful people". The customer base is international but mostly Spanish, not targetted at the Brit crowd at all, similar to Metropolis before it. Perhaps unusually for what is without a doubt a stylish up-market club there was a pretty good atmosphere too. There wasn't much evidence of people too far up their own backsides trying to look cool than have a good time here. No attitudes.
Music was of the boom boom boom variety... dance and trance!
I found it was a little later in the night before Liquid began to fill up so while there is nothing to stop you getting there before midnight you won't have to wait long to get served if you do. I liked Liquid, it's a nice place to have a drink in good quality surroundings and company.
Should you want Liquid also serves drinks during the day.
Me and my bf decided to go somewhere else one night other than veronicas/starco so i said we should go to liquid (this was after our usual drinks in the George Pub) anyways we walked down (took about 4 mins) its right next to Hooters, we got there at about half 11, the bouncer opened the door for us which was nice to see and there was about 5 people in! but we thought we may aswell stay because it's quite early.
Anyways the girl who served us at the bar was really friendly (not something you expect in a luxurious looking club) and she couldnt speak much english but my bf can speak spanish which she must have been relieved by. 2 drinks came upto just over 13euro but with our green banana card it came to 11euro which wasnt bad, we expected it to be expensive anyway with it being gorgeous which is understandable.
The other bar staff were really friendly and the DJ played good music. We went upstairs and it was abit more busy, mostly older people with their bling on and armani gear (we felt abit underdressed but there were also people just casual with shorts, flip flops and girls with sandals so we were ok)
The big sofa thing upstairs is really kool, you can sit at the back and you are facing a huge screen on the wall (which can be een from outside in reverse which is clever!) and if you sit at the front you face the DJ and the small bar area. The toilets are unisex but they are the cleanest i saw in tenerife which was nice to see after being in so many grubby toilets. The men who work there are pretty muscly (look like bouncers but work behind the bar) but the females cant speak very good english so make sure you know some basics.
The music was really good, and we met a really nice couple who we sat with for abit.
We then went back downstairs and it was abit more packed and everyone was dancing unlike earlier so it looked more lively and better.
We only had 2 drinks because we felt abit underdressed and stuff so we went back the next night with our designer gear on, totally dressed up and had a better night, even met an actor who used to be on hollyoaks and he bought us a few drinks (so make sure you dress up and look expensive!)
