Very good
|
The Colon 2 is a small but excellent three star apartment block discretely tucked away right in the centre of Playa de las Americas. The location of the Colon 2 is such that you can quite easily miss it. The small reception entrance way is between a jewellers and bank on a semi pedestrianised road in the centre of the resort. The reception is basically a shop unit and seperate from the apartment block itself. Considering it's very central location I didn't find road or other outside noise to be a problem while staying at the Colon 2. What I did notice however was the noise of the maids wheeling their trolleys around starting around 8am. The apartment block is a rectangular ring shape and the landings are all tiled, the nature of them is such that noise seems to bounce around the inside of the building and become quite distracting. The entire complex was fully refurbished in 2005 which was within 12 months of my first stay and I have to say the place was absolutely spotless. It seemed the staff were working hard to keep it that way. Although officially rated as three star in my experience it is a very good three star. Thee rooms were quite small but nicely furnished with at the time new furniture, fittings and bedding etc. The kitchen was well equipped and a decent size. Big tv too. The room keys were of the electronic card type and as is increasingly common had to be inserted into a slot on the wall for the electricity and water to work in the room. The pool was very big considering the size of the apartment block itself with plenty of sun loungers and terrace space around it. The Colon 2 expects a high standard of behaviour from it's guests and consideration for others. This is made clear in the information given to you upon checking in and indeed states in bold type that you are forbidden from bringing visitors back to your apartment at any time. That will perhaps make the Colon 2 less suitable for single and particularly groups of single people than other places you could choose. Not the cheapest self catering apartments to stay in but worth that little extra. Hotel User Reviews

Fabulous Place to Stay

Fabulous & Spotlessly clean, more like an apartment block with a seperate reception than a hotel, very quiet, nice pool, close to everything Las Americas has to offer but without the noise of the club area, but that is within a 5 minute walk if desired. Some cheap bars & places to eat all within walking distance, the beach is close too. Very convenient 24 hour supermarket almost adjacent to the Colon 2 so you will never run out of anything. Highly recommend the fish & chip shop at the side of The Bell bar, also just passed to Supermarket. Karaoke is available if you turn left outside reception at the Blaydon Races bar, or live music at the Sax bar. The Sports Bar sells the cheapest Lager at 1 Euro a Pint ! - again all available by turning left outside reception then right at the corner of the Irish bar. A very good all you can eat Chinese is also on that street, plus the Aberdeen bar serves a mean full english breaksfast plus drink for under 3 Euros. 2 downsides are - no air con just ceiling fans which can be hard to deal with in the summer & Beware .. you will be chased by lucky lucky men everywhere selling sunglasses. I have stayed here twice now and loved it would go back anytime. Hotel User Reviews
